Code of Ethics and sportsmanship

Compliance

Each person, upon signing a Dog Owner's Information agree to be bound by the Rules and Regulations of the BKCP , and to be a Responsible Dog Owner (credit to AKC). The dog owner pledges to BKCP and AKCUPI:


  1. I shall plan every breeding in accordance with the breed standard. I shall not knowingly breed or sell a dog with health problems or serious disqualifying defects.
  2. I shall provide proper nutrition and veterinary care to my dogs throughout their lifetime.
  3. I shall not allow to mate any dog male or female (a) under one year of age, (b) or over eight years of age. I shall not permit any bitch to (c) whelp more than six litters in her lifetime, (d) in any 3-year period not more than 3 litters are to born to a bitch and (e) if bitch gave birth cesarean, she must not be bred in less than a year.
  4. I shall not permit any purebred dogs to be mated except to a dog of the same breed.
  5. I will maintain high standards of health and care for my dogs, and guarantee the health of my puppies at the time of sale.
  6. I will will be factual and honest, both in substance and implication when I advertise my dogs.
  7. I shall have a contract and honor all agreements made with breeders, stud owners, co-owners, partners, and buyers for the protection of all parties.
  8. I shall ensure that all persons acquiring dogs from me clearly understand their responsibilities for the care and welfare of the animal including spaying or neutering dogs of pet quality.
  9. I shall provide to all purchasers of dogs I placed written details of all dietary and complete immunization requirements up to the time the dogs were in my care.
  10. I shall not allow a dog to be sold less than 8 weeks of age, sell or give to anyone that maybe irresponsible, nor shall I sell to a pet shop or give it away as a prize or have it adopted by a shelter.
  11. I will ensure when selling a dog to another person that all documents are accurate as required by the BKCP/AKCUPI and will be supplied to the purchaser at the time the purchase agreement is completed.
  12. When I attend a show, I will always demonstrate good manners and sportsmanship to everyone including exhibitors, judges and organizers.
  13. I will only bring my dog out in the public and to dog shows if my dog is not sick or in heat, has no temperament problems, and has complete and updated vaccination.
  14. I will dress appropriately and respectfully when I go to a show. When handling a dog inside the show ring, I shall not wear a hat, t-shirt, shirt with large prints, jersey or tank top, shorts, sandals, or slippers. As a handler, I will wear polo shirts, collared shirts paired with either slacks or jeans (dress or collared blouses for women handlers) and low shoes.
  15. I shall take my dog to potty before entering the show venue and the show ring. I shall pick up any waste left by my dog.
  16. I will do my best to help educate the general public about my breed and responsible pet ownership.


The Bully Kennel Club Philippines (BKCP) and the Asian Kennel Club Union of The Philippines (AKCUPI) reserves the right to correct or cancel for cause the registration of any purebred dog and its descendants. Any misrepresentation on the application is one example of for cause cancellation and may result in loss of BKCP registration privileges. Registration is not guaranteed.


CODE OF SPORTSMANSHIP

  

· Sportsmen respect the history, traditions and integrity of the sport of purebred dogs.

· Sportsmen commit themselves to values of fair play, honesty, courtesy, and vigorous
competition, as well as winning and losing with grace.

· Sportsmen refuse to compromise their commitment and obligation to the sport of purebred dogs by injecting personal advantage or consideration into their decisions or behavior.

· The sportsman judge judges only on the merits of the dogs and considers no other factors.

· The sportsman judge or exhibitor accepts constructive criticism.

· The sportsman exhibitor declines to enter or exhibit under a judge where it might reasonably appear that the judge’s placements could be based on something other than the merits of the dogs.

· The sportsman exhibitor refuses to compromise the impartiality of a judge.

· The sportsman respects the BKCP rules, regulations and policies governing the sport of purebred dogs.

· Sportsmen find that vigorous competition and civility are not inconsistent and are able to appreciate the merit of their competition and the effort of competitors.

· Sportsmen welcome, encourage and support newcomers to the sport.

· Sportsmen will deal fairly with all those who trade with them.

· Sportsmen are willing to share honest and open appraisals of both the strengths and weaknesses of their breeding stock.

· Sportsmen spurn any opportunity to take personal advantage of positions offered or bestowed upon them.

· Sportsmen always consider as paramount the welfare of their dog.

· Sportsmen refuse to embarrass the sport, the Bully Kennel Club Philippines, or themselves while taking part in the sport.
